Discover the Ha Giang Buckwheat Flower Fields: Itinerary, Best Season, and Photography Tips

By LyLy EcoGroup 29/06/2025 2,171

The Buckwheat Flower (Tam Giác Mạch) has become an inseparable symbol of the Đồng Văn Karst Plateau (Ha Giang), attracting millions of tourists annually. The most ideal time to admire this flower is from late October to early December. This is when the flowers are in peak bloom, covering the hillsides in a romantic purplish-pink hue. However, if you visit late in the season, you will have the chance to see the flowers turn into a beautiful deep crimson color. Famous viewing spots that cannot be missed include Lũng Cú (near the National Flagpole), Sủng Là valley (home to Pao's House), and the Mã Pí Lèng Pass area, where the flower fields blend seamlessly with the magnificent rocky mountain scenery.

To capture the best photos, you need to keep a few photography tips in mind. Take advantage of the early morning light (around 7 AM – 9 AM) when dew still clings to the petals to create a magical effect, or shoot at dusk to capture warm tones. You should choose clothing with colors that strongly contrast with the flowers' hue (e.g., white, black, or neutral tones) to stand out against the field. Most importantly, when visiting, tourists must be mindful of protecting the flower fields by walking on the designated pathways and avoiding causing damage to the local people's flowers, thus contributing to the sustainable preservation of this beautiful landscape.
